Downtown Dog Lounge is a locally owned business built on trust, compassion, and a deep love for dogs—and the people who care for them. We're looking for a part-time HR Generalist who’s ready to step in and support our growing team with the tools, structure, and guidance they need to thrive.
The Role
We’re seeking a part-time HR Generalist to take ownership of core HR functions across the employee lifecycle. You’ll lead day-to-day HR operations, including compliance execution, Paylocity management, benefits administration, and union-related HR support. While you’ll have the support of consultants when needed, this role requires someone who’s proactive, resourceful, and confident in handling a variety of responsibilities independently.
What You’ll Do
- Execute and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws
- Fully manage Paylocity as our HRIS—employee records, onboarding, documentation, and reporting
- Own benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee support
- Support employee relations with empathy, discretion, and sound judgment
- Provide HR support in union-related matters, including communication, documentation, and coordination
- Assist in drafting and implementing policies, performance reviews, and staff communications
- Collaborate with leadership to support culture, engagement, and accountability
- Be a go-to resource for employees with HR-related questions

Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of HR generalist experience
- Strong understanding of employment compliance and benefits administration
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms (Paylocity experience strongly preferred)
- Experience supporting or working in union environments preferred
- Clear communicator with excellent follow-through and documentation habits
- Comfortable working independently
- A resourceful, can-do attitude and genuine care for people

- Experience in pet care or other small businesses
