Job Description

Description

About Us
Downtown Dog Lounge is a locally owned business built on trust, compassion, and a deep love for dogs—and the people who care for them. We're looking for a part-time HR Generalist who’s ready to step in and support our growing team with the tools, structure, and guidance they need to thrive.

The Role
We’re seeking a part-time HR Generalist to take ownership of core HR functions across the employee lifecycle. You’ll lead day-to-day HR operations, including compliance execution, Paylocity management, benefits administration, and union-related HR support. While you’ll have the support of consultants when needed, this role requires someone who’s proactive, resourceful, and confident in handling a variety of responsibilities independently.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Fully manage Paylocity as our HRIS—employee records, onboarding, documentation, and reporting
  • Own benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee support
  • Support employee relations with empathy, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Provide HR support in union-related matters, including communication, documentation, and coordination
  • Assist in drafting and implementing policies, performance reviews, and staff communications
  • Collaborate with leadership to support culture, engagement, and accountability
  • Be a go-to resource for employees with HR-related questions

Why Join Us?

  • Flexible part-time schedule (approx. 10–20 hours/week)
  • Dog-friendly, values-driven workplace
  • Opportunity to make meaningful contributions and grow with the business

How to Apply
If you’re ready to bring your HR skills to a team that truly values people and purpose, we’d love to hear from you.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–3 years of HR generalist experience
  • Strong understanding of employment compliance and benefits administration

  • Experience supporting or working in union environments preferred
  • Clear communicator with excellent follow-through and documentation habits
  • Comfortable working independently
  • A resourceful, can-do attitude and genuine care for people

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience in pet care or other small businesses
