About the role

Dispel Engineering is in charge of building and maintaining Dispels products. Engineering interacts closely with Product, Operations, and Project management.

All members of the engineering team are expected to be honest, competent and easy to work with. Communicating around the state of plans and execution as well as continually learning about the technologies used in Dispels products is also expected of all team members.

Discovery (Primary Focus - 65%)

  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading architecture reviews.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and documentation habits.
  • Ability to balance short-term needs with long-term technical vision.
  • Provide technical leadership on difficult projects, working with product and engineering to drive projects to completion.
Qualifications
  • Must have several years of experience as a software engineer and at least a few years experience as an architect either full time or hybrid.
  • Proven ability to design distributed systems, microservices, and APIs.
  • Experience with multi-tier architectures, service-oriented architecture (SOA), or event-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of scalability patterns, caching strategies, disaster recovery, and high-availability design.
  • Experience designing secure cloud environments (IAM, VPC, encryption, audit logging).
  • Familiarity with industry compliance frameworks (SOC 2, IEC 62443, FedRAMP, etc).
  • Fast learner. Degrees and certificates aren’t a determining factor for us. Rather, we value your ability to care about your work and learn fast.
  • Communication and team culture are very important at Dispel. You’ll be joining a collaborative team where new ideas and contributions are encouraged. These criteria are soft, but just relax and be genuine.
Bonus Points
  • Hands-on experience with web frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Django, Spring Boot) and front-end stacks (e.g., React, Angular).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD Tools.
  • Knowledge of threat modeling, secure coding, and incident response planning.-codExperience of Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) as well using infrastructure-as-code tooling(Terraform, Bicep) to build and maintain them.

The U.S. pay range for this position is between $170,000 and $190,000. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
