Senior Tax Reviewer
Objective:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Reviewer to join our growing and dynamic team. This role will focus on managing and reviewing tax compliance and advisory services across a variety of client types. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, solid leadership capability, and a commitment to high-quality client service. This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal oversight.
Essential Functions:
Tax Review: Primary responsibility is the review of prepared tax returns. Identify issues, return to preparer for revisions, and provide final approval before delivery.
Tax Preparation and Compliance: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Ensure all work is compliant with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Tax Planning and Advisory: Conduct tax research, support complex technical issues, and identify tax-saving strategies for clients.
Compliance Oversight: Stay current with tax law changes and adjust compliance procedures as necessary.
Client Service: Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients. Address inquiries, provide tax guidance, and maintain strong professional relationships.
Team Leadership: Provide training, feedback, and support to help develop their skills.
Quality Assurance: Ensure tax returns and financial statements meet internal standards and regulatory compliance.
Risk Management: Identify risks, recommend controls, and maintain documentation to ensure audit-readiness.
Special Projects: Support IRS and state tax audits, assist in tax provision work, and contribute to financial statement tax disclosures as needed.
Competencies:
· In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency in UltraTax and Microsoft Excel (required or strongly preferred)
· Experience reviewing financial statements
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines
· Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff is preferred
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility but does include leadership and mentoring of tax staff. Reports directly to the Tax Manager.
Position Expectations & Work Environment
· Full-time, salaried, exempt position
· Normal office hours with flexibility as needed
· Extended hours during peak seasons

· Lee’s Summit, MO
· Branson, MO
· Fayetteville, AR
· Louisville, KY
Hybrid or remote arrangements will be considered.
Required Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· CPA license (required)
· 3–5 years of recent experience in tax accounting in a public accounting firm or similar setting
