OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To achieve the financial and business objectives of a market, a service, or a group of contracts.

JOB COMPLEXITY/SCOPE: In addition to performing billable consulting work, the Group Manager is responsible for business administration, business development, client relations, and staff management and development.

Responsible for profitability of all projects within the group.

SUPERVISION: Has full managerial responsibility of a group and the direction, control, and utilization of staff. Is responsible for the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality of projects.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Job Duties:

Business Administration

· Monitor Cotter fees and profitability of projects.

· Contact clients about outstanding A/R as needed.

· Oversee review and approval of invoicing.

· Participate in contract negotiation. 

Business Development & Client Relations

· Identify new business opportunities and actively prospect to develop new accounts.

· Lead proposal preparation, submittal, presentation, and negotiation.

· Obtain new business to achieve sales and revenue objectives.

· Attend industry events during or outside work hours to network with clients and prospective clients and other industry professionals.

· Responsible for cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with existing clients and collecting feedback on project/program team then resolving issues

People Leadership

· Responsible for the performance of all team members. Encourages and guides staff in learning and professional development.

· Regularly communicates with staff through group meetings, project site visits, phone calls, and emails ensuring company values and vision are clear. 

· Conducts evaluations and recommends promotions, salary increases, and bonuses.

· Encourages and guides staff in learning and professional development.

· Anticipates departmental staffing needs. 

· Participates in recruiting and selection efforts and monitors staff utilization

Project Management

· 70% billable on project and actively contributing technical expertise to ensure project success

· Plans, organizes, and manages resources to deliver the project in accordance with project commitments.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field.

· 15 years’ experience including 5 years managing others.

· Proven success in obtaining new business.

· PE license or CCM certification may be required.

· Ability to use a computer, the Internet, and scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Job duties in an office setting require the following:

· Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the office;

· The ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects;

· Good hand-eye coordination; the ability to reach with hands and arms; and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp;

· Close visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate office equipment, prepare and review data and figures, and view a computer monitor;

· The ability to talk and hear;

· The ability to work in an upper level of a high-rise office building (Cotter Chicago office and some client offices);

· The ability to handle temperature changes consistent with inside environmental conditions; and

· Mental abilities including remembering, reasoning, concentrating to remain on task, reading, problem solving, managing concurrent tasks, and the ability to understand and follow directions.

For job duties that require visiting a construction work site, the following is required:

· Normal color vision;

· The ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms;

· The ability to move across uneven surfaces and the ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling on uneven or slippery surfaces;

· The ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch;

· The ability to stand for sustained periods of time;

· The ability to work in confined spaces and narrow passageways;

· The ability to work in high places; and

· The ability to handle outside environmental conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold, loud noise levels, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, and oils.
