We are currently seeking a Sr. Manager of Yard Operations/Logistics for our Woodland facility.


The Sr. Manager Yard Operations/Logistics manages the Central Valley - Woodland yard through efficient utilization of people, equipment and resources to include the safety of employees, customers and the public, inventory control, dispatch, shipping and receiving, transfers, drivers, customer service and product quality. 


 REQUUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of supervision experience Required
  • 3+ years managing or driving operational processes or procedures Required
  • Construction/yard experience preferred 
  • Spanish/English bi-lingual desired 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Operations Oversight:

  • Manages the performance of facility staff and processes, ensuring all materials received, shipped, and/or transferred are on schedule.
  • Ensures order management and cadence is executed flawlessly daily.
  • Drives employee engagement with a focus on safety, process discipline, and operational excellence.

Driver and Logistics Oversight:

  • Oversees routing, scheduling, and performance of drivers and logistics.
  • Coordinates with Sales and Dispatch to reduce delivery change orders, missed deliveries, and ensure OTIF (On Time In Full) targets are met.
  • Improves load sequencing, route optimization, and delivery communication in partnership with Yard Supervisor.
  • Partners with Fleet Maintenance to ensure equipment, trucks, and trailers are maintained, inspected, and compliant.
  • Monitors driver performance, including safety, service feedback, and delivery efficiency; supports driver training and accountability.

Budget and Metrics:

  • Participates in managing the facility budget with the Director of Operations.
  • Controls overtime, assesses team productivity, and executes efficiency improvements.
  • Adjusts employee schedules to align with forecasted workload based on sales and transfer volume.

Safety Leadership and Management:

  • Ensures all facility personnel are compliant with company safety policies and procedures. This includes company policies, DOT, and OSHA. 
  • Assists with the scheduling of maintenance for forklifts, vehicles, and facility spaces via coordination with the Director of Safety, Fleet, and Facilities.
  • Ensures all Safety Training is conducted on time and in full.

Communication with Key Partners: 

  • Directs communication with Inventory Control and Lumber Buyer regarding product quality and quantity, and ensures purchasing is correlated with actual inventory levels.
  • Directs communication with Procurement and Lumber Buying regarding vendor standards (product quality, delivery timelines and commitments).
  • Initiates conversations with Sales, Office employees, and Yard Foreman regarding customer feedback, performance analysis, and improvement opportunities. Ensures execution.
  • Partners with Sales on how to dispose of obsolete inventory with the assistance of Inventory Control. 

People Management:

  • Supervises daily activities of all direct reports and ensures overall operation is functioning at a high level.
  • Assists the Facility Director with process discipline, inventory training, and cross-training, and makes recommendations related to terminations.
  • Manages schedules, vacations, overtime reporting, and communication to employees regarding schedules and overtime.
  • Establishes performance expectations, coaches and guides performance.
  • Exhibits Central Valley Behaviors consistently and holds everybody accountable.
