As an RN at Akron General’s Center for Neurology and Spine, you will interact with patients, families, physicians and various other healthcare staff to provide exceptional care. You will join a passionate family of caregivers dedicated to creating a welcoming, healing and supportive environment for everyone who visits or receives treatment from Cleveland Clinic. 

 

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM or 7:00AM—3:30PM. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment, instruct patients in collection of samples and tests, assure completion of patient histories, obtain vital signs, maintain timely flow of patients, prepare equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients. 

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. 

  • Observe, record and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician. 

  • Collaborate with scheduling staff and physician(s) in the coordination of appointment scheduling and ensure timely treatment of patients in acute and emergency situations. 

  • Answer the telephone promptly and courteously, screen call, take messages, provide information and follow up on patient issues in a timely manner. 

  • Maintain and review patient's records, charts and other pertinent information. Post tests and examination results in patient records. 

  • Schedule patient appointments, diagnostic testing and procedures ordered by the physician. 

  • Maintain exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials and order medical supplies needed. 

  • Promote health and wellness in the practice and community and serve as a patient advocate. 

  • Educate staff on new equipment, policy, updates, etc. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing 

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • One year of professional nursing experience in a physician practice setting 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
