What Strategic Sourcing - National Brands contributes to Cardinal Health
Global Sourcing is responsible for creating and managing diverse strategic supplier partnerships that drive enterprise value with innovation, best cost and competitive advantages that benefit customers, suppliers and patients. Develops and executes strategic plans by leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. Competitive advantage is created through supplier selection and management, contract negotiation, supply chain optimization and risk mitigation.
Strategic Sourcing - National Brands provides supplier relationship management, end to end supply chain support, and cross-functional operational improvements. Leverage fact-based data and analytics to negotiate contracts for goods and services that meet or exceed fiscal expectations. Responsible for performance management, including maximization of financial deliverables and risk mitigation. Create strategies and influence internal and external stakeholders to execute effectively.
Job Summary
As support to the Director, Strategic Sourcing National Brands, the primary purpose of the Advisor, Strategic Sourcing National Brands is to assist in ongoing operations of the Nuclear & Precision Health Solutions business of Cardinal Health through purchasing, inventory management, pharmacy support, and facilitation of internal communications. This job has heavy responsibility for SKU purchasing, inventory management and communications, and understanding product life cycles to accurately and efficiently procure and distribute pharmaceuticals and ancillary supplies. In addition, this job takes ownership of special projects pertaining to sourcing activities, including those for new products and reporting on product usage and purchasing commitments. The Advisor, Strategic Sourcing National Brands also tracks analytical data on inventory and distribution to ensure contract terms are being fulfilled, and to provide insight into future demand planning.
This position is in the Nuclear & Precision Health Solutions business.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains processes for generating suggested order quantities for warehoused materials
- Creates purchase orders in SAP and places orders with vendors; follows up with vendors on open purchase orders; coordinates deliveries with warehouse
- Establishes and maintains processes and reports to ensure compliance with all aspects of vendor contracts, including purchasing commitments
- Acts as main point of contact with vendors for ordering and coordinates resolution of open issues and questions
- Actively develops and manages relationships with vendors
- Completes data analysis to support business decision making, including negotiation strategy
- Actively engages with accounting and finance to ensure accurate inventory reporting, and to provide forecast updates impacting revenue and margin
- Develops and maintains Sourcing processes related to inventory management, finance, and the field
- Engages with relevant internal stakeholders to communicate supply and inventory disruptions, when necessary, including initiations of product recalls and returns of incorrect or damaged products.
- Works on special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience, preferred
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Business Administration, Logistic, Supply Chain), or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Demonstrated inventory management and forecasting experience strongly preferred
- Preferred experience related to sourcing and/or supply chain
- Prior SAP experience preferred
- Up to 10% overnight travel
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of technical ability and expertise
- Results oriented, strategic thinker, able to work in a team environment and work independently
- Experience with advanced data management, using analytic tools, systems and resources, preferred
- Experience leading teams and project of large scope and complexity, preferred
- Lean Six Sigma (LSS) or related experience, preferred
- Strong data analysis and critical thinking skills

Anticipated salary range: $79,700 - $113,800
