SUMMARY:
The Director, Co-Pay and Affordability, will be responsible for overseeing co-pay program performance at the enterprise level to provide support to the brand program management teams. The director will lead new initiatives aimed at improving patient affordability and access to medications. This role will involve strategic planning, partnership with program management team (s), and collaboration across the enterprise with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and operation of co-pay assistance programs.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Co-Pay Program Management:
Develop and implement strategies to optimize co-pay assistance programs, ensuring they meet the needs of patients and align with company objectives.
Monitor, evaluate lead the team responsible for reporting performance of co-pay programs, identifying areas for improvement, recommending and implementing necessary changes.
Oversee and monitor co-pay program activity across TAs to spot trends that may impact GTN or signify disruptions that could impact patient care.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, pharmacies, and third-party vendors, to ensure the effective operation of co-pay programs.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to co-pay assistance programs.
Patient Affordability and Access:
Lead initiatives to improve patient affordability and access to medications, including the development of innovative support on behalf of co-pay programs and partnerships.
Analyze data and trends related to patient affordability and access, using insights to inform program development and decision-making.
Work closely with the Market Access, Patient Support, and other relevant teams to align co-pay and affordability initiatives with broader company goals.
Strategy & Operations:
1. Collaborate with Program Managers:
Work together on developing strategy and tactical planning.
Conduct analysis comparing different solutions and capabilities from different co-pay vendors across BMS brands.
Program Managers hold responsibility for the final program strategy.
2. Enhance Patient and Provider Experience:
Analysis of external market trends to take advantage of manufacturer co-pay programs
Develop strategies and co-pay specific mitigation tactics by monitoring new service approaches and vendors.
3. Drive Service Improvement:
Improve service quality, turnaround time, and performance measures.
Work w/ procurement on vendor RFPs and capability meetings for broader PASS team.
Benchmark against best-in-class standards.
Contribute to the development and optimization of services.
4. Program Implementation to support new programs & launches
Works w/ procurement to update vendor SOWs/MSAs for new product additions or new services.
Is part of PM launch team and ensures all aspects of new brand are integrated into co-pay program.
5. Process Optimization:
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance program effectiveness in alignment with Procurement team.
6. Data Management and Reporting:
Ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting for co-pay programs.
Utilize data insights to drive continuous improvement and inform decision-making.
7. Compliance and Risk Management:
Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with co-pay programs.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, and industry partners.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of co-pay and affordability programs and their benefits.
Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and other events related to patient affordability and access.
Program Evaluation and Reporting:
Develop and implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of co-pay and affordability programs.
Prepare regular reports on program performance, including key metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
Present findings and recommendations to, Brand PM teams, senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor a team of professionals responsible for co-pay and affordability programs.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.
Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary resources and support to achieve program goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in co-pay program management, patient affordability, or a related field.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and guidelines related to co-pay assistance programs.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful co-pay and affordability programs.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred
Expertise in market access, co-pay and patient support strategies preferred
Experience with data analysis and reporting tools preferred
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $191,250 - $231,800, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.
Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
