Our mission is to bring intelligence to the world of content management and empower our customers to completely transform workflows across their organizations. With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

As a Software Engineer II on the Frontend Quality Tools team, you’ll help build the internal tools and platforms that power quality, speed, and reliability across Box’s engineering organization. This team is focused on enabling developers to ship high-quality frontend code faster and with more confidence by creating tools that improve visibility, efficiency, and automation throughout the development lifecycle.

You'll work on internal-facing systems that streamline test execution, surface actionable insights, and improve integration with CI/CD pipelines like Jenkins. You'll also help extend our developer tooling ecosystem, dashboards for quality signals, and performance monitoring systems.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering excellence and developer experience—empowering teams across Box through robust and scalable tooling.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design and develop internal tools that enhance developer workflows and promote quality across engineering systems.

  • Build reusable infrastructure and libraries to support consistent and efficient frontend development.

  • Extend and integrate automation tools into custom frameworks that improve reliability and usability across teams.

  • Enhance our CI/CD pipelines with better diagnostics, automation, and feedback mechanisms for frontend engineers.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand pain points in the development lifecycle and build targeted solutions to address them.

  • Refactor and modernize legacy systems to improve tool performance, maintainability, and scalability.

  • Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

  • ~2 years of professional software development experience, ideally with a focus on tooling, platforms, or automation infrastructure.

  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, with familiarity building internal tools or frontend libraries using frameworks like React/NodeJS

  • Comfortable working with infrastructure and automation tools like Jenkins, and integrating them into developer workflows.

  • Familiarity with tools like Playwright, used not just for testing but also as part of automation and diagnostics systems that support developer efficiency.

  • Passionate about improving engineering quality and developer productivity through scalable tooling solutions.

  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills, with a desire to make developers’ lives easier through code.

  • A strong communicator and collaborator who enjoys partnering with other engineering teams to gather feedback and solve shared problems.

METHODOLOGY

  • Agile management – Scrum

  • Project tracking and collaboration – Jira

  • Code reviews – GitHubEnterprise

  • Version control – GIT

  • CI/CD - Jenkins
