Position Summary:

 The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and lead all Accounting & External Reporting functions for BioStem Technologies. The Controller will oversee and manage the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and reports for annual, quarterly, and periodic filing requirements. The Controller will be a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with excellent analytical, planning, evaluation, and implementation skills.

  • Manage and continuously improve the accounting, consolidation,      and financial statement close process to ensure accurate accounting in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensure financial reporting and the Company’s accounting policies comply with US GAAP
  • Oversee technical accounting research and accounting determinations, in partnership with third-party providers as      needed, on relevant transactions, including business combinations, compensation plans, new revenue arrangements, and relevant new accounting  standards.
  • Lead Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) compliance efforts; maintain systems and controls that ensure the      integrity of all financial systems, processes, and financial data, and ensure compliance with applicable rules for financial reporting.
  • As appropriate, assist the CFO with special projects in areas such as deal evaluation and deal structure. 
  • Monitor and assess current trends and emerging  developments within the field and practice of accounting to ensure the      company’s compliance and preparedness. Stay abreast of regulatory and accounting pronouncements that will affect the Company's financial  statements and position.
  • Drive innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness in monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes to achieve increased      accuracy and a shortened month end close cycle.
  • Leverage technology to build scalable and sustainable processes to create efficiencies and streamline accounting      operations and financial reporting.

  • Build-out of a high performing accounting organization to ensure excellent execution of responsibilities. Recruit      and retain a results-driven team that is effective in partnering with operations.
  • Mentor and manage the accounting team to ensure a  high level of engagement and professional development through the      execution of individual development plans.
  • Consult with the CFO on financial regulatory  requirements and maintain regular communication with the Audit Committee.
  • Oversee and coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors. Foster and manage a positive and      productive relationship with the external auditors that focuses on continuous improvement, communications, and efficiency.
  • Proactively develop relationships with cross-functional leadership, and other Finance Team members to ensure      financial reporting and associated internal controls and corporate  policies are enforced and best practices are continually implemented and maintained.
  • Partner with IT, and third-party providers as needed, to ensure NetSuite and other systems meet the needs of the team and organization.

Requirements

  

Key Qualifications:

  • Previous Controllership experience, preferably in a publicly held company. Demonstrated success serving in a top accounting      role.
    • Consideration will be given to individuals  currently serving in an Assistant Controller (or related senior accounting position) who demonstrate readiness to step into the top accounting role.
  • Extensive experience leading accounting functions and teams; demonstrated track record of process improvement and      collaboration with business partners.
  • Experience within SEC/consolidated financial  reporting, application of Sarbanes-Oxley financial requirements and U.S.      GAAP desired.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with focus on process discipline and management to deadlines
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, ability to build relationships with key business leaders, external  auditors, and the audit committee.
  • Experience executing process improvement  initiatives within a high growth environment.
  • Direct experience driving NetSuite system improvements and upgrades. Excellent project management skills and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, or  Finance.
  • Active CPA license is preferred.
