POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Residential Life, this position is responsible for assisting with the management of student housing and meal plan assignments and housing operations. The Assistant Housing Coordinator will serve as a resource for students and a communication link with parents/guardians concerning residence life issues affecting the students living in the residence halls. The Assistant Housing Coordinator will cover resident director’s responsibilities while various resident directors as needed as well as provide housing assistance to the Director of Residence Life as needed throughout the year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in planning, implementing, and managing housing assignments. Including new student housing processes for freshmen, transfer students, and international students for the fall and spring semesters, as well as returning student housing procedures and assignments.
- Assist with managing communication of housing assignments for new and returning students.
- Continually review occupancy after Room Draw ensuring the residence halls maintain 100% occupancy through move-in day.
- Organize and coordinate move-in policies, procedures, supply RDs with move-in rosters and materials.
- Assist with managing student housing rosters, housing records, occupancy records relating to all housing operations. Produce various housing rosters and reports as needed.
- Develop, update, and maintain the housing application, room and board agreements, and office publications to effectively communicate housing and meal plan policies and procedures.
- Facilitate Meal plan assignment, manage meal plan change policies, procedures, and communication.
- Participate in staff orientation, in-service training, and staff meetings. Be thoroughly familiar with the Residence Life Handbook, and the Student Handbook.
- Help students become aware of the College's mission and expectations of them as expressed in the Student Handbook and other printed sources.
- Guide students in their quest for character to the highest standards based upon BC’s Benedictine tradition and the beliefs of the Catholic Church.
- Provide administrative coverage for RDs on leave, as needed.
- Promote activity in accordance with the policies of the college as published in the Student Handbook, the RA Handbook, the Benedictine College Catalog, and other official college documents. Avoid enterprise and activity that may, in the judgment of the college, interfere with the faithful, adequate, and proper performance of your duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life.

- Thorough knowledge of higher education student development, risk management and legal issues
- Ability to relate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills as well as proven administrative and organizational skills
- Computer skills include word processing, e-mail, and database software.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
At least two years of related experience in a residence life and/or experience in student affairs. Residence life or student affairs experience in a small, private, Catholic, Liberal Arts college or university is preferred.
