Summary
The Accessibility Services Graduate Assistant is a dynamic position within the University's Office of Accessibility Services. This role primarily supports test administration, including scheduling, materials handling, and occasional proctoring. The GA collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to ensure proper accommodation implementation and testing compliance. Additionally, this position offers developmental opportunities in student advocacy, ADA/504 compliance, and accessible service delivery, aligning with Barry University’s mission and national professional competencies in student affairs.
Graduate Assistant Learning Outcomes - Apply working knowledge of ADA/504 and FERPA regulations in service delivery. - Demonstrate professionalism in student interaction and cross-departmental collaboration. - Develop project and case management skills using accessible student service platforms. - Promote awareness of disability rights and inclusive campus practices. - Enhance leadership, communication, and equity competencies consistent with NASPA standards.
Essential Functions
Testing Coordination
Coordinate test reservations, obtain materials, and maintain an updated schedule using Titanium/ClockWork.
Proctor tests when necessary to ensure academic honesty and accommodation adherence.
Ensure FERPA-compliant handling of testing materials.
Collaborate with faculty and student staff for seamless exam operations.
Data Entry and Information System Management
Accurately input and manage testing and accommodation data in ClockWork and other platforms.
Conduct routine audits to verify data integrity.
Work with OAS staff to troubleshoot system issues.
Gain technical experience with accessibility databases and student records systems.
Office Operations & Student Interface
Provide front desk support and triage incoming calls.
Address routine student concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Assist with routine administrative support for the Director and Coordinator.
Awareness & Event Support
Assist with the coordination of campus events promoting accessibility and inclusion.
Design and distribute educational and marketing materials related to Accessibility Services.
Represent OAS at student engagement events as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications - Enrolled in a BarryU graduate program related to Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
