Summary:
The Associate Directors from the Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship team, play a key role in advancing the Archdiocese of San Antonio’s mission of evangelization and missionary discipleship through a collaborative, pastoral approach that supports parish and diocesan ministry leaders. Each Associate Director will help shape and evaluate pastoral plans, contribute to ongoing formation efforts, and assist in fostering vibrant parish communities of faith across all stages of life.
The Associate Director of Young Adult Ministry & Adult Formation provides direct support to the Director of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship, to advance the archdiocesan vision and mission in the areas Young Adult Ministry, Adult Formation and preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage.
This position is active in outreach to parishes and deaneries throughout the Archdiocese with an emphasis on formation for parish leaders. Formation may take place through parish visits, deanery meetings, developing and giving workshops and trainings, and the implementation of archdiocesan guidelines and initiatives related to Young Adult Ministry, Adult Formation and preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage.
The fundamental basis of this role is an integration of the New Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship in pastoral de conjunto to serve the multicultural pastoral needs of children, youth, young adults, adults (as couples, and men and women as individuals) and seniors to intentionally build the domestic church.
Position Responsibilities:
- *Develop new formation and workshops, as needed, based on the vision and guidelines of the Department for Pastoral Ministries.
- *Offer trainings and workshops in Sacramental Preparation, and Ministry Formation for parish ministry leaders throughout the Archdiocese.
- *Communicate with parish ministry leaders to develop a sense of supportive presence, offer formation, and help make them aware of training opportunities.
- Create, contribute and manage content for communications to parish leaders and relevant audiences. This includes collaboration with the appropriate DPM staff for promotional efforts.
- Assist in maintaining up to date contact information for parish leadership in this area of ministry.
- *Work with the Director in identifying current resources, models and best practices used their area of specialized ministry.
- *Promote and implement best practices in specialized area.
- *Develop and maintain local partnerships and relationships with Lay Ecclesial Movements, internal and external Church organizations connected to their specialized area of ministry.
- *Serve as a resource and guide for pastors and parish ministers for specific parish needs or concerns related to their area of specialized ministry, as well as general practices common to all areas of evangelization and missionary discipleship.
- *Organize, analyze, and present data related to ministry leaders in these areas. Make recommendations based on available data.
- *Serve as the lead or support the lead and appropriate staff for events and initiatives connected to evangelization and missionary discipleship as assigned by the Director.
- Offer formation to Deacons, Religious, Seminarians & Laity at Mexican American Catholic College as requested.
- *Assist the Director in maintaining and implementing sacramental guidelines and ministry policies by promoting them with parish leaders.
- *Identify pastoral needs of ministry leaders and respond appropriately. This includes the awareness of when ministry leaders need referral for guidance or services with other offices; including situations that need referral beyond the scope of pastoral and ministerial support.
- Ensure the mission, vision, values and priorities of the archdiocese are communicated clearly and carried out effectively, efficiently and collaboratively within assigned area of focus.
- Regularly engage in personal growth, professional development, theological study, prayer, charity and justice work, and spiritual formation.
- Foster a “Pastoral de Conjunto” environment by leading by example, resolving issues, and making sound decisions.
- Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Morals Policy is mandatory.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in any area of ministry, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in parish youth ministry development and evaluation.
- Experience using key catechetical documents such as Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Directory for Catechesis, Evangelii Gaudium to guide parish ministry.
- Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
License and Credentials

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- A thorough working knowledge of he Catechism of the Catholic Church, the General Directory of Catechesis, the National Directory for Catechesis, Christus Vivit, Renewing the Vision, and current developments in the Church’s theology of the vocation of the laity.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred;
- Ability to recognize and engage with diverse backgrounds and understand different social realities and challenges.
- Intimate knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures and the capacity to offer formation through the lens of the Word of God.
- Excellent organizational management skills, ability to set and achieve goals and objectives, and manage a budget.
- Past success working with committees and the ability to cultivate existing committee member relationships.
- Strong public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders that include parishes, groups, other churches, as well as within and beyond the Pastoral Center.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills, including: professional tact and courtesy, and ability to express ideas clearly, creatively, and logically, both orally and in writing.
- Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude and mission-driven.
- Experience with computer software and thorough proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite. Other publishing programs preferred.
- Keen sense of missionary spirit and missionary zeal.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team; passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed.
- Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Travel Requirements:
Travel requirements for the position includes up to 50% local and 2% overnight.
