Are you ready to put your marketing, fundraising, or direct response skills toward an organization making an impact in animals lives and the community around us? 🐾 Consider joining Animal Humane Society (AHS) as the Marketing and Direct Response Fundraising Manager. This role is responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of multi-channel marketing and fundraising initiatives that drive awareness, engagement, and support for Animal Humane Society. This role manages a team of marketing professionals and oversees a direct response program that generates more than $3 million annually through direct mail, email, digital advertising, and other channels.

Important Details

Salary: $80,000-105,000 depending upon experience

Schedule/Location:

  • Full-time, Hybrid
  • Location: This is a hybrid position based out of our Golden Valley, MN location with regular occasional travel to our other locations in Minnesota. This role is required to be on-site at least 2x per week, subject to change as business needs dictate. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Essential Functions

Marketing Strategy and Campaigns:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and address marketing needs across the organization.
  • Lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns that elevate brand visibility and generate revenue.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive annual campaign calendar aligned with AHS’s strategic goals.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and innovations in direct response and performance marketing to enhance campaign effectiveness.

Direct Response Fundraising:

  • Oversee the strategy and execution of direct response fundraising efforts, including segmentation, creative development, testing, and production.
  • Develop compelling, donor-centric messaging for email, direct mail, and digital platforms to drive acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Use A/B testing and data analysis to elevate and optimize campaign performance.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure timely and effective campaign delivery.
  • Identify and implement new channels to expand unrestricted revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to align appeals with donor journeys and stewardship strategies.

Content Creation:

  • Oversee the creation of impactful marketing and fundraising content across print and digital platforms, including websites, email campaigns, paid media, newsletters, direct mail, and collateral.
  • Ensure creative quality and brand consistency in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Uphold AHS’s mission and values through a unified and compelling voice in all communications. 

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance, donor trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess effectiveness.
  • Provide actionable insights and data-driven recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement.

Leadership:

  • Provide supervision, coaching, and development to direct reports as noted on the organizational chart, acknowledging accomplishments and providing regular feedback.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct reports to ensure team members have the resources and support to be successful.
  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts within the team.
  • Review and approve timecards and requested time off within payroll deadlines, working closely with employees to resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage budgets and complete revenue/expense reports as required by Finance.

Communication and Culture:

  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers, other employees, and volunteers.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all.

Technology:

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite to design, edit, and review marketing assets.
  • Utilize Drupal, CRM systems, and digital fundraising platforms for campaign management.
  • Monitor organizational email systems and digital tools for timely communication and delivery.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Schedule and Attendance:

  • Hybrid role with at least two days per week onsite in Golden Valley.
  • Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours.
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings, leadership meetings, all-staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with direct leader.
  • May be required to attend occasional off-site meetings and events.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office/desk based.
  • Adjacent animal shelter areas may be humid, noisy, or odorous.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 4+ years of leadership experience in marketing, fundraising, or direct response.
  • Proven experience in digital marketing and/or fundraising, content creation, email strategy, and campaign management.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Experience with Drupal, CRMs, and peer-to-peer fundraising platforms is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate the team.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and process management skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computers, specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft products.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

Emotional Demands:

  • Must be comfortable with the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia.

Transportation:

  • Reliable transportation required.
